Testimonials.

This is just to say that in my opinion MARK LAWRENCE is one of the best if not the best editor with whom it has been my pleasure to work. He is efficient, intelligent, very skilled at his job and great fun to have in an edit. He knows how to edit comedy material particularly to the very best effect and to that extent is the best person that a comedy performer or writer or director could wish to have working on their work. He is fast, self sufficient, with an eye to find an edit and to make it work where others might not see it . Even more important he is a very good chap.

I recommend him highly and without reservation.

Mark Lawrence is quite simply the finest editor known to man - accept no substitute

I do not hesitate in recommending him for all your needs.

'Mark is one of the finest editors I've ever encountered. His eye for continuity, aesthetics and getting exactly what the client wants on screen under very tight deadlines is unsurpassed. He has an exceptional eye for story-telling and a keen intuition for the audience he is delivering to.

His calm and professional manner has been a welcome asset to all productions we've worked together on.'

Susan Nickson, Writer: Two Pints of Lager, Grown ups.

"Mark is a not only an absolute joy to work with, but is also an extremely talented editor, with an unrivalled eye for comedy.  His comic timing is superb and he is refreshingly up for trying new approaches.  I always look forward to working with Mark as i know the show will turn out fantastically, and we'll have a laugh getting there (with a constant supply of kit-kats)."

I love working with RTS Award-winning editor Mark Lawrence.  Mark is a brilliant story-teller, very quick and experienced both offline and online, with tremendous visual acuity and a wonderful sense of comic timing. He has very seasoned and intelligent editorial judgement, is happy to contribute creatively to the whole production process, and he never fails to charm Executives. When working with Mark I know I'm going to have a hugely enjoyable and productive edit and that he will get the absolute best out of whatever material we have captured. If only he could cook.

Stephen McCrum, Producer: Josh, Mrs Brown’s Boys, This Country.

I worked with Mark on two series of People Like Us for BBC2 in 2000 and 2001.

As a first time writer/director I was very lucky to have someone as editor with Mark’s combination of creativity, experience, calmness, and flexibility. As someone trying to learn as fast as I could he was the ideal person to sit in a room with for six weeks at that point in my career. Since then I’ve tried to work with him again on a number of occasions but perhaps not surprisingly he’s usually been busy because other people have got to him first.

With the benefit of a bit more experience now, for what it’s worth I’d say that Mark is exactly the sort of person who make (or made) the BBC what it is (or was).

John Morton, Writer/Director: W1A, People like us, Twenty Twelve.

Mark is undoubtedly a funny editor and on Hetty Feather he also proved a dramatic one too. He cut 10 episodes of the period drama based on Jacqueline Wilson's book. Apart from Mark's stellar cutting skills and huge experience, he is also generous and positive in the suite, which makes the edit a real joy and a laugh. I look forward to cutting some shows with actual punchlines with him. I can see why he's in demand and has such an amazing comedy cv.

Chloe Thomas, Director: Victoria, Harlots, Hetty Feather, Horrible Histories

Mark Lawrence -- I know it goes against the Brit custom of withholding complements and emotion but your assemblies are terrific! Thanks for the great work. Mark

We filmed the teaser of Mrs. Browns Boy's in 2009. When we finished shooting our Producer Stephen McCrum told me that there would be a delay as the editor he wanted for the project was on something else, but that he would be worth waiting for. That editor was Mark Lawrence. And Stephen McCrum, as usual, was SO right!

Thanks to Mark's deft hand, and brilliant understanding of Comedy, that teaser prompted BBC 1 to commission the show. We also put that teaser on YouTube where it got 3,000,000 hit's in the space to three months.

The greatest compliment I can pay Mark is this - Every time I look at something that I have written after Mark has edited it, my immediate feeling is "That's what I meant when I wrote that" - for a writer there is no better feeling. And I believe for a comic performer, there is no better editor.
